Edward D. Simmons, M.D.

Dr. Edward D. Simmons is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.  He is a member of the Scoliosis Research Society, Cervical Spine Research Society, North American Spine Society, International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Orthopaedic Association.  Dr. Simmons is a clinical professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo.

He has over 40 publications in peer review journals as well as 18 textbook chapters and has made over 250 presentations at national and international spine surgical meetings.  He attended the University of Toronto graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977 and then attended McGill University Medical School graduating with MD, CM degrees in 1981.  Subsequently, he did six years of orthopaedic surgical residency at the University of Toronto during which time he also obtained a Master of Science degree.  This was followed by two years of Fellowship training; one at the Canadian Back Institute and the Orthopaedic and Arthritic Hospital in Toronto, and the other at the Childrens Hospital of Boston and the Brigham and Womens Hospital of Harvard  Medical School.  He has been in practice in Buffalo, New York since completing his training in June 1989.
